The 1mm slot works for extra narrow frets, likes ukuleles.
The 2mm slot works for all standard guitars, bass, banjo, mandolin, cigar box guitars, etc.
The 3mm slot works for jumbo frets.

Baroque first introduced their now world renown fret crowning file in 2017, since then they have made a number of improvements and in 2020 released generation 3 of the 3 sided fret file and in 2021 generation 4, which is the exact same file but it has a 4th feature which is a flat filing side for levelling frets as well as dressing fret ends.
